Boolean package contains the “classic” modeling tools of dependability: fault tree, event tree, reliability diagram block, bow-tie, reliability network, SIL loop.
Perfectly designed for all safety studies on critical systems, it performs computations without approximation, thanks to Binary Decision Diagrams. Probabilities, frequencies, importance factors or minimal cuts are results you’ll find in all its modules.
Averages are computed by integrating instantaneous values. And in cases where the Boolean approach is not applicable to part of your system, you can couple this package with the Markovian package.
Its great strength also lies in its ability to link different models and manage dependencies. For example, it’s no problem to have a component used in several safety functions used as barriers in the same bowtie.
This module is based on the use of ALBIZIA, the BDD (Binary Decision Diagram) computation engine developed by TotalEnergies, capable of performing exact analytical computations and quickly providing a very large amount of information on the system under study.
Tree
Tree can be used to model a system in the form of a fault tree. Main model used in dependability, the fault tree is mastered by all reliability specialists, and enables modeling. Computation of probabilities, frequencies, cuts, importance factors, sensitivity calculations, and even integration of downtime costs are available in this highly ergonomic module.
BFiab
BFiab lets you model a system in the form of a reliability block diagram. With a more system/functional vision, it offers the same functionalities as the Tree module, while making it easier to communicate with non-reliability specialists. Its management of the system/sub-system hierarchy makes it easier to read large systems.
SIL
Certified by INERIS (Institut National de l’Environnement Industriel et des Risques), SIL is used to assess the SIL (Safety Integrity Level) of safety instrumented loops. Studies carried out in accordance with IEC 61508 and IEC 61511 standards, this module is generally intended for instrumentalists in charge of designing or maintaining SIS (Safety Instrumented System) architectures.
ETree
ETree module enables the construction of event trees for risk analyses. ETree computes the frequencies of sequences/scenarios resulting from the success or failure of barriers. This module manages different risk matrices for a complete study of different types of risk (human, environmental, financial, etc.).
Risk
Risk module enables the construction of butterfly nodes and LOPAs (Layer Of Protection Analysis) for risk analyses.
It groups a fault tree and a simplified event tree around a central feared event. In addition to the current risk assessment, Risk computes the SIL required for the safety instrumented loops under study. Mainly used by HSE teams, it is the ideal tool for quantitative risk analysis.
Reseda
Reseda module enables the construction of reliability networks. Composed of nodes and links (unidirectional or bidirectional), the reliability network is the perfect modeling tool for assessing the availability of a computer, electrical, communication or transport network. The computation method comes from research carried out by EDF in the 90s, and today it is the only software on the market to offer this functionality.
BOOL
Bool combines the functionalities of all the modules of the Boolean package of the GRIF** software suite. You can combine fault trees (Tree), event trees (ETree), reliability block diagrams (BFiab), bow-tie or LOPA (Layer of Protection Analysis) computations and safety instrumented systems (SIL) in a single document. It can therefore be used to create butterfly nodes, LOPA-type analyses with complex safety barriers, or any other model requiring the combination of various representations.
